Should You Reface Your Cabinets?
As long as the wood itself is not warped beyond repair, and if the cabinets are structurally intact, they are likely good candidates for refacing. This is more involved than simple cabinet painting, but we won’t need to measure and fabricate a completely new custom cabinet system. Also, think about the cabinet layout. Are you happy with how it functions? If you are only worried about how the cabinets look, we can reface them.
The Cabinet Refacing Process
We begin by carefully removing your existing cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and hardware. We then clean the cabinet boxes to guarantee proper adhesion of the new veneer or laminate. If your cabinets require minor repairs, such as loose hinges or reinforcing the structure, we will handle those before moving forward. Minor issues can be addressed without building a new custom system.
Next, we will apply the veneer. This can be made of wood, laminate, or thermofoil, depending on your desired style and budget. This must be done very carefully – we perfectly match edges, corners, and seams. The new doors and drawer fronts will then be attached, and the new hardware – hinges, knobs, and so forth – complete the transformation.
Veneers and Other Refacing Options
Many people use wood veneers when refacing their cabinets. These are strips made of real wood (wood finishes of your choosing), and we can attach these to the cabinets. It’s a great way to go from plain white cabinets to a striking natural wood look. We can also attach contemporary glossy veneers, matte veneers, and almost anything else you can think of. As far as the doors are concerned, we can upgrade the doors and handles to shaker style, beaded, raised panel, or many other designs.
