The Cabinet Painting Process
First, we’ll thoroughly prepare your cabinets. We will clean all dirt, grime, and grease from the cabinets (you never know what you may find in a kitchen), then remove the doors, drawers and hardware. Those are painted separately. We’ll then fill any scratches and imperfections, sand those down, and add a professional bonding primer. We don’t want your cabinet paint to start peeling off down the road.
Then we will add a durable paint, both sprayed and brushed as necessary, and add a perfect coat of paint to the doors and drawers without blemishing your hinges, knobs or other hardware. Lastly, we’ll piece the cabinet system back together and give it a thorough inspection. We don’t leave until the cabinets are painted perfectly and you are happy.
Are Your Cabinets a Good Candidate for Painting?
Not all cabinets require refacing or replacement. If your cabinets are structurally sound and free from significant water damage, they are probably excellent candidates for painting. Cabinets made from solid wood or wood veneers take paint nicely, while laminate cabinets may need additional preparation – this is not a problem, just something to keep in mind.
Painting is much more budget-friendly than a full cabinet refacing or rebuilding project, and you can still dramatically change the look of your kitchen.
